Downrigging Weekend and Boat Festival

For the third week in a row, we have a great weekend event to tell you about.  We are approaching the 13th annual Downrigging Weekend: Sultana Projects Tall Ship and Wooden Boat Festival.  This is one of the biggest weekends of the year for Chestertown with many  different activities going on including a concert at the Garfield on Saturday by one of Rita’s favorite bands, Caravan of Thieves.  They are hard to categorize, but if you had to describe their music it would be gypsy-swing-jazz with a little sing-along thrown in! If you are in or near Chestertown on Saturday, don’t miss them! If you need a place to stay, our Eastern Shore bed and breakfast is perfectly located for full festival enjoyment.

There will be other music, fireworks, lectures, touring and sailing on the many tall ships in Chestertown’s harbor, and even a model boat sail.  And just like the long name says, besides the tall ships there will be a wooden boat show as well, some in the water and some on land.  So if kayaks, canoes and other small boats are more your thing, we’ll have that too.

In addition to all the boat themed activities, the RiverArts Studio Tour continues this weekend, and it’s also First Friday!  The shops downtown stay open late and the town bustles with activity on these nights.  With the tall ships in the harbor illuminated, it really is a sight to see.

The forecast is good for the weekend so why not stay at our Eastern Shore bed and breakfast and enjoy the fun?  We can promise you’ll find something interesting to do.

We hope to see you there!
