The song says these are the “lazy days of summer”, but to my eye, there is always something going on when it’s summertime: pool parties, barbecues, family reunions. Stuff happens. Sales happen. Concerts happen. Corn happens!
Here are a few of our favorite Chestertown, MD events coming up soon this July:
1. Nothing says summer more than an old-fashioned county agricultural fair, and the Kent County Fair is says it loud and clear! From tractor pulls to bake sales, not to mention cute farm animals, this fair has it all. It is a fun excursion to take, and only 9 miles from the inn. If you haven’t been to a fair in a while, this will send you tumbling down memory lane! July 18, 19 & 20.
2. On Saturday, July 20, catch Karen Somerville at the Mainstay in Rock Hall. Karen is our local, resident song stylist. She’s an incredible vocalist and you’ll think you’ve been transported to a nightclub in the city…but you’ll be just 12 miles from the Brampton. Her rendition of “My Favorite Things” is fantastic. The Mainstay is a terrific venue for music without a bad seat in the house. This promises to be a special evening.
3. If shopping is a recreational sport for you, then you won’t want to miss the triathlon of sidewalk sales, also known as Crazy Days. July 25, 26 and 27, (that’s a Thursday, Friday and Saturday, in case you have to think up an excuse to take off from work!) the shops in Chestertown fill the sidewalks with stuff on sale. Really deep discounts abound; you could conceivably get all of your holiday shopping done in one weekend. Wouldn’t it be nice to actually enjoy your holiday instead of running around searching for that perfect present? I’m telling you, it’s here in Chestertown.
And, yes, while I suppose the corn growing along the roadside isn’t an actual event, it is actually happening, right?
Enjoy your lazy summer days!!!!
