Passing the torch.

This past July 4th marked 29 years since Danielle and Michael moved into the house known as “Brampton”.  With 18-month-old Sophie, and a teenage Lucas in tow, they opened the doors to the Brampton Bed and Breakfast Inn 5 months later on December 12, 1987.   There were 2 rooms on the second floor available (Yellow or Blue)  for…. $65 a night!   Nine years ago, we ran an anniversary “flashback” special with some rooms going for  $65 a night.  Were you here for that?? Perhaps there will be a 30th anniversary special; if so we’ll let you know for sure.

Naturally the inn has grown and there have been updates and improvements year after year.  How did we ever manage before the age of the internet? Somehow, it seems.  The Brampton’s first website went live somewhere around 1999, just in time for the Y2K scare.  That must have been interesting!  From 2 rooms to 4, then 6, then more. Renovations and new construction of cottages; refurbishing of the magnificent front porch and belvedere; adding staff; installing gardens;  it goes on and on…

What Lies Ahead for our Chestertown Bed and Breakfast…

This year marks the beginning of a new phase for the Hanscom elders:  semi-retirement!  Mike and Dani have handed control of the inn over to Lucas (all grown up!) and his wife Rachel.

The next generation to run our Chestertown bed and breakfast

With their 9 month old Abby in tow (as well as the rest of our  staff), they have dedicated themselves to continuing the ABCs of Brampton…Authenticity, Beauty, Comfort and Service.

What lies ahead for the next 29 years (Yikes!) for this second generation? Surely more of the same maintenance and upgrades as needed; perhaps a bigger and more productive garden; solar energy; chickens??  As soon as we know it, you’ll know it.  Keep up with our progress through the blog, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Onward!
